Volunteering with Books for Africa

This month we had the opportunity to volunteer with Books for Africa at their warehouse located in St. Paul. At the warehouse they collect, sort, and ship books, computers, tablets, and library enhancement materials to every country in Africa. Our responsibility was to sort and pack books according to category and age level. It was incredible to see the amount of books that had been donated!

Most rural schools in Africa have few books, and each year Americans throw away millions of books that the children of Africa could use. Books for Africa facilitates the distribution of these books through in-country non-governmental organizations. Their goal is to end the book famine in Africa and they remain the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 54 million books to all 55 countries on the African continent since 1988.

We’d love to volunteer at an organization that you support. Please reach out to us if you know of a program that could use our help!
