This month we volunteered with a local food shelf in the south metro area, The Open Door. They set up a food market once a month at a retirement home in Apple Valley. Residents can sign up in advance to select from a variety of meat, produce, dairy, canned goods and paper goods. We were very impressed by the abundance of food that The Open Door provides to these residents at no cost. Our duty was to help display and organize the food and help the shoppers find what they were looking for. We all agreed that it was a very fun experience and we look forward to doing it again!
