This month, we have volunteered to teach Junior Achievement to a kindergarten class in one of our local schools. Junior Achievement is a program that enforces real world skills in our schools through a curriculum that ties themes from what they are learning in their classrooms to real life application.
It is conducted in 5, 30 minute sessions that focus on some of the concepts of personal economics. We’ve talked about making choices, wants versus needs, and earning and saving money. We loved spending a few minutes each week with our class, getting to know them and introducing foundational concepts of personal money management.
