Real Estate Myth: Winter is a Bad Time to Sell Your Home

Oftentimes Minnesotans will tell us that they want to wait until spring to sell their home because winter is a bad time to put their house on the market. After working in real estate over the past 5 winters, Team Lucky Duck can dispel that myth. In fact, there are many perks to selling real estate during the off season.

As people start to hibernate for winter, people shy away from putting their house on the market. Less inventory means less competition. With minimal competition, your house will stand out even better. If you wait until the spring, the market shifts in the buyer’s favor and they will have many more options.

If people are willing to trek through the cold to look at houses this winter, chances are good they’re especially motivated. Additionally, these motivated buyers are more willing to pay top dollar and are more likely eager to close faster.

What does this mean for you? You can escape Minnesota earlier and you won’t have to wait out the rest of winter in the frozen tundra!
